Bethany Lutheran Church engaged BryantFlink to explore solutions for a concrete pad at its north entrance that ices up in the winter. While looking at practical solutions for this maintenance issue, the church also wanted to consider converting that area for interior use. BFAD's team provided a range of design solutions, from an ice-melt system embedded in the concrete to constructing a pavilion to shield the concrete from snow and ice, to a full expansion of the church’s narthex over the concrete slab. The expansion is designed to serve as a new lobby/flex area for before and after services and expanded seating for holiday services.
